Header Pinouts : POT4 POT4a POT4b

"POT" Input header (5 pin)

Connection for a potentiometer

  1. REF+ : Positive reference output
  2. SIG : Potentiometer wiper "position" signal
  3. REG- : Negative reference output
  4. SHLD : Connect to the shield that encloses lead wires and potentiometer. Do not connect to the chassis or "GND"
  1. PKUP : Not used

Connection for a strain gauge bridge

  1. REF+ : Positive reference output, connect to "top" of bridge
  2. SIG+ : Amplifier positive input, connect to bridge signal (+)
  3. REG- : Negative reference output, connect to "bottom" of bridge
  4. SHLD : Connect to the shield that encloses lead wires and bridge. Do not connect to the chassis or "GND"
  5. SIG- : Amplifier negative input, connect to bridge signal (-)

"POS-PWR" Power input / "Position" output header (5 pin)

  1. +12 : Connect to a low noise +12V power supply
  2. P+ : Positive going differential "Position" output
  3. GND : Connect to
  4. P- : Negative going differential "Position" output
  5. -12 : Connect to a low noise -12V power supply

NOTES:

  • P+ and P- are connected to low impedance drive though a 50 ohm resistor
  • Capacitance of 1.1uF (typical) is placed across P+ / P- which forms 1st order lowpass filter with Fc=1.45KHz
  • P+ and P- are fully differential and are NOT ground referenced. For single ended operation, at the receiving end, connect P- to the local ground.

"Velocity" differentiated output header (2 pin)

  1. V+ : Positive going "Velocity" output
  2. v- : Negative going "Velocity" output

NOTES: See preceding notes for P+/P- as V+/V- are also differential outputs
